This ONE WEIRD TRICK to shave a SECOND off your 0-60!

Did an oil change and cut off half my exhaust so now all that remains is the cat, a cherry bomb, and a couple feet of pipe so I don't smoke myself.

The result: 0-60 times have improved from 11.7 seconds to 10.1 seconds (averaged), though my low-end torque is still getting murdered by the transmission's Abuse Mode, which will be removed when I get the PCM tuned by ZZP which will happen... sometime. Before I do that I need to fix the bumper cover damage and make sure I'll be able to drive the Silverado while the Buick is PCM-less.

So now the question is: If I get a "cold-air" intake, combined with my other mods would that be enough to tongue-in-cheek say I have a "Buick LeSabre Stage 1"? :D

Excuse me, but when I told you you owe me a 10 second car, I didn't mean 0-60. Screw it, just go open headers only.

Define "cold air" intake...

I put a Stage 2 clutch in my Manual Camry, and was about to order a CAI when I killed it. I think you could probably even get away with a GM Racing sticker.

LeSaber SS?

Oppo sticker is on the way, but I think a GM Racing sticker is needed. And I might get some "SS" badges from AutoZone as well because I'm a cheeky bastard.

An obnoxiously big loudly-colored conical air intake next to the fenderwall that mostly exists to look badass when you pop the hood, while providing a negligible at best performance increase over the surprisingly free-flowing stock intake.

You could also go for the "Ram air" hood and just cut a random hole in the hood.

Racecar, bro. You'll need some Hoosiers too..

I could do that in about five seconds but I'd get pulled over immediately. I have a video of what it sounds like, though.

Nah, take out a headlight and plumb it with dryer vent tubes.

Not worth it, its a warm air intake at that point. Do what I'm doing and get the filter in the fender well for the "cold" air. Having the filter in the engine bay look cool but it sucks warm air from the motor. Again try and get the filter in a "colder" place than the engine bay.

Also, that sounds good, can't wait to do some exhaust on my V6.

I was super impressed until I realized that wasn't a quarter mile time. As long as it makes you happy you can call it anything you want man.

Cold air intakes do nothing but make intake noise. Using a clean/new filter will help your car run better, but not faster in any appreciable/noticeable way.

You should consider running true duals and the shortest glasspacks/straight-thru mufflers you can find if you want to increase power the most.

Adding a shift kit to change the shift points will improve acceleration by eliminating gear overlap and thus lowering shift time by allowing you to rev a bit more between changes.

Kinja'd!!!1

Intake noise is awesome though.

Right now the entire exhaust system is only 5 feet long and it's 2-inch pipe so I don't think I can get any less restrictive unless I do a cat delete.

I dunno about a shift kit... when autocrossing I never get out of 1st gear anyways. 0-60 sees me barely getting through 2nd.

Shift kits are mainly for straight line speed and chirping tires. It is undeniably awesome when it shifts so hard that a big cushy couch like the one in my Olds feels like it kicks you in the head.

I guess it's time to look for shift kits for a 4T65E, then. Sounds like it will go well with the transmission changes a chip-tune will do (increased line pressure, abuse mode removed)

Ooh, ZZPerformance has a shift kit as well as a gear ratio conversion kit.

For real question, would bigger injectors help at all? I know for my old Cherokee Ford 21# injectors worked quite well over the older Jeep 19# injectors.

Kinja'd!!!0

Not sure. I'd have to get an OBD2 diagnostic readout thingie and see what the mixture is doing through the rev range. If it runs lean then that could mean I'd need bigger injectors, right? But then I'd probably want a bigger throttle body (probably a Northstar one), more powerful fuel pump, etc.
